Workshop in HK

One of the occasionally perks I get from my job is that I get to travel sometimes on workshops that are held overseas. Because I've been working on one of the new reporting requirements that was implemented about 2 years back, I've had the chance to stay in S'pore for 2 weeks and 2-3 days in HK... which was quite fun. Well, it would've been more fun if I didn't have other work to worry about back in KL. But what the heck... I was relieved to be able to get away from KL work for awhile. :)

But, it didn't turn out to be THAT much fun after all. Coz I went to HK not really knowing what the weather was like. So I just packed light... and I really do mean extremely LIGHT. I thought that with my work jacket, I can tahan around 18-19 degrees.. no problemo.

And as always, Murphy's Law applies... the moment we landed, we saw the news saying that the weather for the next two days will be the coldest, and that it will go down to approximately 10 degrees Celsius!!!! Alamak!! I was so screwed! So for the two days I was there, I was freezed to my bones. Non-stop shivering and sniffing away... it was terrible! At night when I slept, I actually had to wear the bathrobe just to keep warm! The second day, I had to borrow a jacket and a scarf from some colleagues, just so I could walk out into the cold for lunch. Sigh...

Moral of the story? Always bring the weather with you... and check the weather forecast before going anywhere! :P

By the way, we got a deluxe harbour view room at the Excelsior, and this is the view from our bedroom window... :)

always prepare for the worst, regardless of what the weather forecast says. that's what living in Scotland teaches me. ;)
