Tips for 'desperate' singles?

A friend 'recommended' this blog post to me (to possibly help me out of my single status)? :P The blogger did suggest some very interesting ways to hook yourself up with a man. More specifically, since most of the good men are taken (and handsome men are gay), the best way to hook yourself up with a good man is to 'steal' them away from their girlfriend. :D It's true... how often have you thought: 'What a nice guy!', only to find out that they are attached?! [Alanis Morissette: Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?]

Well, I only said it was interesting but don't think I'd ever try it la! Haha... I always think, if you don't want it done onto you, don't do it onto others. What goes around comes around. If you steal it from someone, someone else will steal it away from you. It was never yours to have in the first place. Sigh...

The studying scene...

Prior to the April-05 examinations, I spent a lot of time in Starbucks. And much to some people's disbelief, I WAS studying. :D I get more in there than at home, what with the distractions in my house, such as the bed, the tv, the radio, and anything I can get my hands on. Even house-cleaning was a more attractive choice than studying... and you know how much I hate house-cleaning!!! :P

Well, I know all these happened months ago, but I took these pictures during that study period and I think they deserved to be posted. :)

I spent most of my time in Starbucks Ikano (left), but some days I got tired of just drinking coffee. So one afternoon, I went to Fasta Pasta (above right), to have lunch while studying. We used to go there a lot coz the wedges there are EXCELLENT! :P So much so that the head waiter there actually recognises me. He also noted that I haven't been there for quite some time already. And seeing that I was on full-concentration studying, he treated me to a free pot of tea. How nice! :) So do try Fasta Pasta (haha... free advert!)

I also went to O'Briens, a favourite study-hangout place during the Sept-05 exam period [now all the outlets will be categorised by exam period... haha...].

Wonder what outlets will be in the Sept-06 category. Stick around to find out. :P

The Da Vinci Code Quest on Google

The weeks leading up to the most anticipated film of the year has been a 'Da Vinci Code' craze! Everywhere you turn, there's a Da Vinci Code-Breaking contest... Google has been leading the way in its fun, exciting and very interesting Quest... Over 24 days, a new puzzle will be uploaded daily. 4 levels of difficulty for 6 different categories, namely:
(1) Symbol Challenge
(2) Restoration Challenge
(3) Curator Challenge
(4) Chess Challenge
(5) Observation Challenge
(6) Geography Challenge

Each challenge is unique its own way. In the Symbol challenge, it's a Sudoku-like puzzle where you're to fill up a NxN grid with different symbols in each row and each column. In Restoration, you have to shift blobs of dust from a painting to reveal the underlying masterpiece. In Curator, you're given a certain number of paintings and an alignment of hooks, and you're supposed to arrange the paintings such that there are no overlaps. In Chess, you need to make 3 chess moves to check-mate the Black King. Fortunately, for those who don't know how to play chess, you can still achieve your goal by correctly answering three questions. In Observation, you have to watch a video clip (which I've not been successful in activating!) and answer 3 questions relating to facts shown in the video. In Geography, you put together a jigsaw puzzle of a piece of map and a trivia question regarding the map must be answered.

All the questions will be related to Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code, of course. You don't have to know it by hard (well, I read the book and I could barely remember the any facts from it!)... that's what Google is for! Haha... I started the Quest almost towards the end of the competition, so finding answers to the questions were easy. There are so many blogs out there that will give you a day-by-day commentary and tips on how to get through the challenge! Actually, most have the answers too!! :P I've added one such blog in my 'Other Interesting Reads' panel. I actually like this other site <http://davinciquestanswers.blogspot.com/> as it's dedicated to the Quest, but the puzzles are not fully up-to-date. Come to think of it, I'll just put both up for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy! :)

Today is Day 24 and the last Quest should be up already. I still have about 3 outstanding Quests to complete. I find Restoration the hardest, since I can't seem to get my head around how to get rid of those darn dust patches!

Another interesting code-breaking contest going on is at the Mix.fm website (Da Vinci Code-Breaker Online Quest). I still don't know how to break the anagram code. Any success anyone?

Souled Out!

It's been awhile since I had a night out with friends... This year especially... always seem to have no time. Either work or just too plain tired to do anything else. Weekends are to relax and laze around, while weekday nights there's barely time to have a decent dinner, much less hang out with friends.

Anyway, made plans to check out Luna Bar (rooftop of PanGlobal) since I've heard some rave reviews about the place (is it true that the men's bathroom walls facing the road are opaque, so when you're pissing away it feels like you're pissing into the streets of KL?!?! Hahaha...) Well, at the last minute we decided not to go there but to head to Souled Out instead. It's almost a year ago since I was last there. What a long time ago...

Just went with two college friends, and it was fun. Just sit around, watch people, have a nice dinner, enjoy a couple of drinks and chat... bliss. :) The topic of speed dating came up (I think one of my friends was more than a little concerned about our single status! Haha...), and I thought... why not? I MAY just pluck up the courage (and the initiative) to actually do it. :P
