Achievers' Club

Hardwork pays off... (better for some than others, I must admit). Anyway, it's been 3 years since I worked at my current company, and finally I got some form of recognition. My company has this Achievers' Club & Star Club, where every quarter individuals will be nominated by their supervisor/manager or anyone they've worked with who feel that they have significantly contributed to the company. There will be a lot of nominees, but each quarter only 4-5 will actually be selected as 'winners' for that quarter.

I was lucky to be nominated in Q1-2005. I was really surprised and happy about it, coz I thought... after 3 years, they're probably not gonna nominate me already la. :P And only last week, they announced the winners for the year 2005... and I was actually in the final listing!!! Happy, happy, happy... ecstatic!! :D

And for my efforts, the prize is... a RM2000 travel voucher!!! Woohoo!!! Now I can start planning my trip overseas... thinking of Hawaii... :)

OK... this is a little late, since it's exactly a month since the event actually happened! Well, better late than never right?

Well, my colleagues (regular treasure hunting gang) jumped at this chance to participate in this hunt, thinking that we would have a pretty good chance. Since at public hunts, we already do pretty well, and we were hoping that with this 'company' restriction, the regular masters will be split up and appear less intimidating.

But boy were we disappointed... first of all, we did not do as well as we thought we should've. Missed a few crucial questions, and also missed the ever-important treasure (has anyone ever heard of "REAL chips" produced by Miaow Miaow??). So we ended up at 7th position, where we actually won about RM800. Not bad I guess... But the winner actually gets a Royal Selangor Pewter trophy! It was really more for the glory and pride than not. Something that we were really hoping and thought we had a chance of getting. All we needed was that treasure, and the 5-points from there would've gotten us in the top 3. Sigh... There's always next year... :)

Brand new phone!

FINALLY! After saying that I want to buy a new phone for so long... I finally dragged myself to Sungei Wang 4 days after CNY to go phone shopping. Even though I was aiming to purchase a Nokia, I just couldn't find one that appealed enough. Most of them, the shape is not nice (too chunky) or the price is too exorbitant. I saw the new A'Mour series... they really looked quite nice, but I think it's a little bit too showy and not enough features. Was interested in getting the Nokia 7270, but they are not selling that anymore. Plus I was told that's a fashion-statement kind of phone rather than a practical phone. Undeterred, I went looking for my Nokia in Sungei Wang. After walking around for awhile, I didn't really see anything I would want to own. I stopped at a one of the less popular booths to look at some more Nokia phones... hoping and praying that I will see something extraordinary that will catch my eye.

And there it was... this sleek Panasonic flip-phone that looked just perfect! I got the salesman to show me the phone, and I took about 30 min scrutinising it. I was a little skeptical at first about the reliability of a Panasonic phone, but after checking it out, everything looked perfectly fine. And so... I took out my credit card and bought it! I've owned it for about a month now, and I'm a happy customer so far... ;)

By the way, my phone is silver in colour, so it looks slightly different from the one shown. You'll just have to use your imagination!! :P

Work, work & more work...

Being promoted comes with a whole lot of new responsibilities. Not only are you responsible for your own work, but you are responsible for the work done by your subordinates. Now that will not be such a huge task if you KNOW the work you're supposed to be checking. But NO! The portfolio I'm handling now is pretty new to me. And believe me, there's lots of things to be checked. Sometimes, I just don't know where to start! Argh...

The last 2 weeks have been rather trying. Late nights... significant OT, but of course I'm not entitled to claim that anymore! I barely have time to study! (Not that I'd have done that without this extra work load anyway! Haha... Shhh... don't let my boss hear me say that! ;P ). But I think I'm getting the hang of it. Just have to persevere and do your best. If not, I'll just crumble under all that stress and pressure. Nope... will take it one step at a time and take each day as it comes. :)

Valentine's Day went by like a breeze. Didn't feel any loneliness or anything (probably coz I was at work till 10:30pm that nite!). I thought I would... but guess it's all okay. I did get flowers though... and they were beautiful. Thanks!! (you know who you are... :P) I did a beautiful (if I may say so myself) arrangement of it in a vase...

Well, I've got more things to update you guys on... mainly theSun Corporate Hunt and Achievers' Club and... Hahaha... This is gonna take awhile. :)

Computer crashed!

Argh... was half-way through updating my blog (after SO LONG!), but my computer crashed! And now I've lost my blog... Darn it! :( I can't be bothered to update it now... sigh... so will try again another day. So keep a look out... :)
